21 Day Fast

21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

…that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:10-14 NKJV

The focus of this fast, a time of self-denial, consecration and prayer, is drawing near to God and pressing toward the mark, the goal of our high calling in Christ Jesus. In doing, we set a rhythm of staying close to God through-out 2012. Also, during the fast instead of the usual Bible class on Wednesdays, we will be meeting together as a church body to pray together.

In addition to studying Philippians 3, start your daily devotional time with reading through the Psalms throughout the fast, and then continue to where the Holy Spirit leads you.

We will be doing two types of fasts, the Daniel Fast and a Hebrew Fast, alternating each week as follows:

Week 1: Daniel Fast
Week 2: Hebrew Fast
Week 3: Daniel Fast

The Daniel Fast is a partial fast, consisting of a diet of vegetables, fruit (including fruit juice), and water. The Hebrew Fast for our purposes, will be 1 meal a day, eaten at anytime, consisting of vegetables, fruit, and water. If you are on medication or have any medical conditions or reservations, please consult with your physician before going on the fast. Remember, that the purpose of the fast is not changing your diet, but to deny the flesh, and to become more receptive to the Holy Spirit.

We know that God is going to move
gloriously and wondrously among us
during this fast!

We invite you to participate with us
as we press towards the mark
and draw near to God!
